Latta Elementary hosted their annual Cat in the Hat Parade on Friday, March 14 at the track around the high school football field. Each child in Primary Montessori (4K & 5K) was asked to make a hat at home with a Dr. Seuss theme! The hats were to be turned in by March 10 to be judged, and the winners were announced at the Parade. The winners were as follows: Mrs. Duprel's class: Za'Vaurious Campbell and Scarlett Hall; Mrs. McCormick's class: Jacob Chockley and Ramsey Dimery; Mrs. Daniels' class: Jonah Rogers and Hunter Ard; Mrs. Huggins' class: Kayson Fore and Leah Owens; Mrs. Nolan's class: Zayleigh Herring and Jeremiah Biddix; Mrs. Hyatt's class: Rhys Rogers and Kendall Ivey; Mrs. King's class: Nathan Butler and Karlie Hayes; Mrs. Miles' class: Bryleigh Carter and Kalani Streeter; Mrs. Walsh's class: Serenity Harrell and Nathan Lane; Mrs. Turner's class: Kynnadi Hayes and Paris Green; and Mrs. Price's class: Blakely Zurcher and Felix Hartley. Each winner received a Dr. Seuss book! All the students did a wonderful job creating their hats, and we are very proud of each one of them.
The Parade of Nations immediately followed the Cat in the Hat Parade. The first through third graders had been learning about countries all over the world. Each class represented a different country and the students and teachers dressed up with items that represented their countries. The students and staff worked very hard to create artifacts and representations of these countries.
We had lots of parents and community members that came out to support the students and a good time was had by all!
