LMS Student Council
On Friday, March 14, 2025 the Latta Middle School Student Council traveled to Chapin High School in Chapin, South Carolina to attend the South Carolina Association of Student Council State Convention.

The following LMS delegates attended the SCASC state convention: Majoria Wheeler (President), Landon Gasque (Vice President), Ellie Kirk (Secretary), Za’Kiah Blakely (Historian), Ellis King (Treasurer), Eri’ana Crawford (8th Grade Class Representative), Raya Adams (7th Grade Class Representative), Orion Foxworth (6th Grade Class Representative), and Francisco Rodriguez (6th Grade Class Representative). The students were joined by their sponsor Sarah Duprel and chaperones Cristin Britt and Jordan Williams.

These nine LMS students joined over 700 other students to collaborate, learn, and execute their right to vote within the SCASC state and district elections. Students worked with other middle and high school students during swap shops where they shared ideas for projects, events, and fundraising opportunities. They also participated in workshops where Student Council leaders from across the state presented skills on leadership and how to grow within this organization.  Most importantly, students attended district and state level campaigns and speeches which allowed them the opportunity to exercise their right to vote, choosing who will represent our district and state within SCASC. Between workshops, the convention also recognized students and distributed awards. Our own Student Council President, Majoria Wheeler, was inducted into the Terry McCoy Hall of Fame. Majoria received this award for her involvement through leadership, commitment, collaboration, and school-spirit.

In the midst of all the voting and learning, students also had fun, attending a country music concert, a banquet, and a glow dance where they were able to network and make new friends. The LMS Student Council members are extremely excited to bring back new ideas and further elevate the Latta Middle School Student Council.
